Care Guide
Light and Placement
Place your Moonshine in bright, indirect light for the best color retention. While it is famous for surviving in low-light corners, the silvery-pale finish will eventually revert to a darker green if the light is too low. Avoid direct afternoon sun which can scorch the leaves.
Watering Routine
Always err on the side of neglect. Water thoroughly until water drains from the bottom, then wait until the potting medium is bone-dry before watering again. In winter, this might mean watering only once every 6 to 8 weeks. Avoid getting water in the center of the leaf rosette to prevent crown rot.
Soil and Potting
Use a well-draining succulent or cactus mix. Terracotta pots are ideal as they allow the soil to breathe and dry out faster, preventing root rot.
Common Troubleshooting
- Soft, mushy leaves: This is a clear sign of overwatering. Remove the plant from soil, trim any black roots, and repot in fresh, dry soil.
- Wrinkled foliage: This indicates the plant is extremely thirsty and has depleted its internal water stores.
