Zonal Geranium
Pelargonium x hortorum
A classic Pelargonium with flower clusters and scalloped leaves marked by a darker "zone," plus a strong herbaceous scent when touched. Easy in full sun containers from spring until frost if you water at the base and deadhead often.

Pet Warning
Pelargonium species contain geraniol and linalool. If ingested by cats or dogs, it can cause vomiting, depression, ataxia, and skin irritation (dermatitis).
Care Notes
Light
Give at least 6-8 hours of direct sun daily. Low light means leggy stems and fewer blooms.
Water
Let the top inch of soil dry between waterings. Water deeply at the base so foliage stays dry and fungal issues stay down. Use a pot with drainage holes.
Soil
A well-draining, slightly acidic mix (about pH 6.0-6.5) supports steady flowering.
Humidity & Temperature
Low humidity is fine. In frost-prone areas, bring the plant indoors before the first freeze. Store cool and bright, and water much less until spring growth resumes.
Common Issues
Snap off spent flower stalks to push new buds. Pinch stems in early summer for a fuller plant. Soft yellow leaves usually mean overwatering.
