Satin Pothos

Scindapsus pictus

A trailing Scindapsus with velvety matte-green leaves marked in silver. Not a true pothos, but just as easy to grow as a hanging plant or climber when you give bright indirect light and let the top of the mix dry between waterings.

Pet Warning

Contains calcium oxalate crystals which are toxic to cats, dogs, and humans if ingested, causing oral irritation and swelling.

Care Notes

Light

Prefer bright, indirect light. Direct sun can scorch leaves. Too little light fades the silver markings.

Water

Water when the top 2 inches of soil are dry. Leaves curl slightly when the plant is thirsty. Avoid constant wet soil to prevent root rot. Use a pot with drainage holes.

Soil

A well-draining mix with perlite or orchid bark works well. Climbing on a pole often produces larger leaves than trailing alone.

Humidity & Temperature

Keep temperatures around 65-85°F. Higher humidity helps, but average home air is usually fine. Reduce watering in winter and keep away from cold drafts and heaters.

Common Issues

Yellow leaves usually mean overwatering. Brown tips may mean low humidity. Faded silver often means the plant needs a brighter spot.
