Sago Palm
Cycas revoluta
A slow-growing cycad, not a true palm, with stiff feathery dark green fronds in a symmetrical rosette on a thick shaggy trunk. Long-lived and tough in bright rooms if you let the soil dry between waterings. Extremely toxic if ingested.

Pet Warning
Extremely toxic to humans and pets. All parts of the plant contain cycasin, which causes severe liver damage and can be fatal if ingested. The seeds (nuts) contain the highest concentration of toxins.
Care Notes
Light
Provide bright, indirect light. Gentle morning sun is fine. Harsh afternoon rays can scorch fronds. Rotate the pot so growth stays even.
Water
These plants are drought-tolerant and rot easily if kept wet. Let the soil dry almost completely between waterings. In winter, water even less. Always use a pot with drainage holes.
Soil
A well-draining sandy or loamy mix, or a cactus blend, keeps roots safe. Skip heavy soils that stay damp for days.
Humidity & Temperature
Moderate humidity is fine. Keep temperatures around 65-75°F and away from cold drafts and heating vents.
Common Issues
Yellow leaves often mean overwatering or a nutrient gap such as magnesium. A mushy center usually means rot. Keep pets and kids away: every part is highly toxic.
