Rabbit's Foot Fern
Davallia fejeensis
An epiphytic fern from Fiji with furry rhizomes that creep over the pot rim like rabbit paws. Lacy fronds look best in hanging planters when humidity stays up and the mix never stays soggy.

Pet Friendly
This plant is non-toxic to cats and dogs, making it a safe choice for pet-friendly households.
Care Notes
Light
Provide bright, indirect light. Dappled sun is ideal. Harsh direct sun scorches fine fronds. In low light the plant survives, but growth stays sparse.
Water
Water when the top of the mix feels dry. Keep moisture even without letting the pot sit in standing water. Occasionally mist the furry rhizomes so they do not dry out. Drainage holes matter here.
Soil
Use a well-aerated peat-and-perlite blend or an orchid bark mix. Good drainage protects rhizomes from rot.
Humidity & Temperature
High humidity keeps fronds soft. Mist rhizomes, use a humidifier, or set a pebble tray, especially in winter. Protect from cold drafts and temperatures below about 55°F. Water a bit less when growth slows in winter.
Common Issues
Crispy fronds usually mean dry air or a dry root ball. Mushy rhizomes point to overwatering. Sparse growth often means more light.
