Hoya callistophylla
Hoya callistophylla

Pet Friendly
Considered non-toxic to cats and dogs. However, like most Hoyas, it contains a milky sap that can cause mild skin irritation or stomach upset if ingested in large quantities.
Care Notes
Light
Place your plant in bright, indirect light. A little morning sun is okay, but direct afternoon sun will scorch the leaves.
Water
Use a soak-and-dry approach. Let the top half of the mix dry, then water thoroughly and empty the saucer. Standing water is the fastest path to root rot.
Soil
Give it an airy, chunky mix of orchid bark, perlite, coco coir, and horticultural charcoal. A planter with drainage holes is non-negotiable for this epiphyte.
Humidity and Temperature
It prefers humidity around 60% or higher. Use a humidifier or pebble tray if your air is dry. Keep temperatures between 65°F and 80°F, and do not let it drop below 60°F. In winter, water less often and pause fertilizer.
Common Issues
Overwatering is the usual cause of decline. Check leaf crevices for mealybugs. Crispy edges often mean the air is too dry.
