Ficus Audrey

Ficus benghalensis 'Audrey'

Ficus Audrey is a Banyan relative with matte, velvety green leaves and cream-colored veins on a pale woody trunk. Many growers find it steadier than a fiddle leaf fig in typical home light. Pick one bright spot and leave it there while it settles in.

Pet Warning

Like most members of the Ficus genus, the Audrey contains a milky white sap (latex) that is toxic to dogs, cats, and horses. Ingestion can lead to gastrointestinal distress, while contact with the sap can cause skin irritation in both pets and humans.

Care Notes

Light

Bright, indirect light is best. A little morning sun is fine, but hot afternoon rays can scorch the leaves. Rotate the planter now and then so growth stays even.

Water

Water when the top 2-3 inches of soil feel dry. Use a pot with drainage holes and empty the saucer; this ficus does not like wet feet. Water less in winter.

Soil

A well-draining mix with perlite and pine bark keeps roots aerated. Avoid heavy soils that stay wet for days.

Humidity & Temperature

Keep temperatures between 65°F and 85°F, away from drafts, AC, and heater vents. Average home humidity works; misting or a humidifier helps in very dry rooms. Gently wipe dusty leaves with a soft damp cloth.

Common Issues

Some leaf drop after a move is normal while the plant adjusts to new light. Soft yellow leaves often mean overwatering.
